"On A Roll"
At the conclusion of each quarter, we take time to publicly recognize the efforts of the academic role models of our school at a series of "On A Roll" programs.
If your child earned a "B" average (3.00) or higher or was recommended for a specific outstanding achievement by an individual teacher, s/he will be recognized at one of these programs. All students who qualify recieve a special invitation to the "On A Roll" sessions.
Students who attend AMS on a part-time basis must be in attendance at least two blocks (about 85 minutes per block) to qualify for "On A Roll" participation.
Students and their parents are invited to celebrate the hard work and dedication that both students and parents devote to making school work a priority. This special celebration is meant to show the students how much we care about their performance in school.
Sessions are planned to take place as early as possible in hope that parents can arrange to miss just a little time from work in order to accompany their child to the ceremony.
Caught in the Middle of Achievement
The "Caught in the Middle of Achievement" program was designed to promote positive behaviors with immediate feedback for students from adults at AMS.
Staff members are supplied with "Caught in the Middle of Achievement" cards which are to be given to students when the staff member "catches" a student exhibiting positive behaviors or actions. Students bring cards to the Student Services office where they are placed in a "drawing box". Drawings are held on a weekly basis and the winners are announced via the school intercom at the end of the week. Winners then report to the Student Services office to collect their prize.
At the conclusion of the year, all cards are separated by grade level, and a grand prize drawing is held with several grand prizes being distributed for each grade level.
"Student of the Month"
Each month teachers choose two students to represent their grade level as "Students of the Month." These students consistently represent "Cardinal Character" traits that we expect of all students. The students are honored with a certificate and a banana split party with the Principal and Counselor. Students also have their picture taken for the paper. An individual picture and summary of their accomplishments are placed in our front hall trophy case as well!
