Communications:
This week we are sharing student drama projects and celebrating the hard work students have accomplished. Independent reading pages are due May 23rd. I want to thank you for wonderful year and for sharing your lovely children with me. We spend lots of hours together and we become almost like a family. It's always a bittersweet time of the year! Enjoy your summer!
Social:
I'm still drying out from our DQ walk Monday afternoon. I think the kids were surprised/scarred at the image of their teacher looking like a drowned rat. We all laughed so hard running back, that you probably heard us running through town through the downpour. It makes for a memorable end of the year event.
This week we look at the wave of new immigrants coming into Minnesota. Students will see how the cycle continues as this new round of immigrants face many of the same issues those did in mid to late 1800s.
Math:
Well, we got our son, David, back on American soil last week. This second Marine deployment was 8 months long, but it sure seemed a lot longer! It was fun to be in California to welcome him back, but it is nice to be back in the classroom with my students, too.
We have reviewed all we are going to review, so now it is show time! I have likened our daily work to sports practices, and our quizzes and tests as the games. Now that we are taking our year end Final Exam it is like the World Series! I hope all of the students knock this test 'out of the park'!
Science:
I would like to thank each and every one of you - students and parents - for a great year! It was fun to work with so many nice people. I guess it is always being around such wonderful people that has made it possible for me to last these 36 years of teaching. And even more, I'm looking forward to number 37 next year, and who knows how many more beyond, if any??
I had a great time teaching Science this year. Thanks to the students for working so well together during our experiments. I honestly haven't had many, if any, classes that were better than this year's group. I wish everyone a fun and safe summer!
